  • Murphy flew to the other side

This morning my pet bird Murphy died.  It was completely unexpected and it still doesn't seem real.  He was doing fine yesterday. This morning, he fell off his perch at like 5AM and died within a few hours.  He's on the Other Side now with my other pets.

Strange thing is...last night I was looking at an old book of mine.  And in the front was this quote:

There is another shore, you know, upon the other side.
    --Lewis Carroll

Also, Tim McGraw's song "Fly Away" (Last Dollar) played when I was in a store getting coffee (a bit after he died I just had to get out of here. I couldn't stand it here anymore)...that song is a sign that has been sent to me before when I lost a pet bird.

This picture was taken very early this morning when he perched for one of the last times. My husband held him.

I'll love and miss you forever Murphy.  Can't say goodbye.

    cold morning

Whoa its cold this morning!  Left the windows open last night and its freezing in here.  Only supposed to be in the low 50s today but its a lot colder than that right now.  Scrambled to shut the windows.

Gonna be quieter than usual the next few days at least.  Two of my friends that I email back and forth with all day long will both be gone.  One is on a vacation till the 17th and the other had to leave on an emergency--she'll be away for several days, probably longer.  Have to find ways to amuse myself ;)

Want to watch that new show tonight..Pushing Daisies. Everyone keeps saying how good it is.  Last night's Boston Legal was hysterical as usual.  Wish Candice Bergen was in it a bit more tho.  Got so hooked on her when she was doing Murphy Brown.

Been reading books by Francesca Lia Block..she writes young adult novels & adult novels.  The first one of hers that I read was ok..that was "Ruby."  The next one I read, "Necklace of Kisses" was better.  People describe her writing as lyrical and magical...her stories involve otherworldly characters and a lot of them are set in Los Angeles.  Got them both from the library.  Picked up a couple more yesterday.  I started reading her because I was looking for something after Harry Potter and I saw people discussing Francesca Lia Block's books so thought why not?  I also have "His Dark Materials" to read.  Love it when I have a whole bunch of good books on hand.

That other book I was reading before, "Snow White, blood red"...didn't like that too much.  Its all short stories by various authors...the stories in there are all fairy tales that they adapted in new ways.   Read more than half of them and outside of one by Charles de Lint, didn't like any of them much.  Just can't get into that book.

Drinking coffee, listening to the country music station, eating more Kolackies...John should of never brought these home last night. He stopped at this Polish-Czech combo grocery store/resteraunt.  Got us mushroom rolls --they look a lot like eggrolls but are stuffed with mushrooms--they're good, potatoe pancakes and these big fat garlic hot dog things that my parents used to call segrelattes (? not sure of the spelling but it sounds like that).  I skipped dinner and took the kolackies instead :)  Theres cheese, raspberry and apricot ones....I'll eat them all :)  They are soooo sooooooo good.  I tried making them years ago but they never came out as good as these.

    Sunday

Cubs lost 3 games in a row..they're out of the playoffs now   And like any good Chicago Cubs fan will tell you, wait till next year.

One of my friends that I write stories with is going to do nanowrimo --so excited. It will be her first time.  It took a bit of convincing to get her to do it but she'll have the best time doing it.  I love the way she writes...she's really funny.  Yesterday was just a flurry of emails back and forth about nanowrimo.  Now she's excited...freaking out a little but excited at the same time.

I have to go out and buy a funny hat or something to wear when I'm working on my nanowrimo novel.  Told my friend she needed one too.  She's like, "I didn't notice in the sign-up part of nanawrimo that SILLY HATS were required... you stinker!!"  But she's gonna get one.

If anyone drops by here thats doing nanowrimo this year...what is your nanowrimo garb this year?
